Jørn W.Phigalt as chairman for
TASBI
- the TransAtlantic Small Business Initiative
SME’s
constitutes the overwhelming majority of all companies on both sides of
the Atlantic. Their active involvement in the TransAtlantic Business
Dialogue is therefore essential as well as their participation in the
development of ‘bridges over the Atlantic’ to facilitate co-operation
and to increase trade and investment flows between European and American
SME’s. This is why the TransAtlantic Small Business Initiative was
launched by the TABD.
Two major issues were identified - Partnering events that stimulate
SME’s from both sides of the Atlantic to form business alliances and
Partnerships and the development of an EU/US information and
co-operation system to provide SME’s with information on topics relating
to doing business in the EU and the US. TASBI’s top priority is still
real Partnering and with the introduction of e-commerce - the market
sets new standards for service, matchmaking and reliable partners on the
global market.
The TASBI Committee
Composed of the TASBI Chairpersons, EU and US government
representatives, and an appropriate resource group, this committee meets
twice a year to formulate policy and monitoring progress. Furthermore
the group initiates new activities, discuss the TransAtlantic Business
with governments and secure funding for global activities.
TABD
-
TransAtlantic Business Dialogue
The
TransAtlantic Business Dialogue is a unique business-driven process
initiated by Bill Clinton, Jacques Santers and Tony Blair. The objective
of the TABD is to boost TransAtlantic trade and investment opportunities
through removal of costly inefficiencies caused by excessive
regulations, duplication and differences in the EU and US regulatory
systems and procedures. Additionally, the TABD works to identify areas
where the US and the EU could enhance cooperation in meeting the
challenges of the global marketplace.
Each
year a CEO Conference with participation of 50 US and 50 EU business
leaders from large cooperation’s and vision oriented business meet to
put forward recommendations to the EU and US governments regarding
competitiveness and potential trade barriers - issues to be solved.
The SME input to the TABD
SME’s
should actively participate in the TABD issue groups and the TASBI work.
Every year we provide a priority of topics of extreme relevance for
SME’s competitiveness and issues that reflects the dynamic marketplace
that SME’s faces every day. Let us have all the comments on our work and
in relation to TransAtlantic trade disputes, issues and activities from
which we can learn and share to a great number of SME’s in US and EU.
TransAtlantic PartnerSearch
The
possibilities to establish TransAtlantic PartnerShips and launch
marketing initiatives are not sufficient familiar to the European and
American SME’s and their representative organizations. To increase this,
ITM Europe makes this process easy through the Global Partnership
Management program - a unique set-up for international business. |
